BET Surface Area and Chemisorption Analyzer
Equipment Model
Anton Paar Autosorb iQ-C-XR-XR-XR
Description
The BET-Chemisorption Analyzer is a high-precision instrument used for characterizing the surface area, pore structure, and active surface sites of materials. It performs physisorption measurements based on the BET (Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) theory to determine specific surface area, as well as chemisorption analyses to study catalytic activity by measuring the strength and distribution of active sites using TPD, TPR, TPO, and pulse chemisorption techniques.

Applications
Catalysis research: Determining the dispersion and activity of catalysts.
Material science: Characterization of surface area and pore volume of nanomaterials, zeolites, MOFs, and porous solids.
Pharmaceuticals: Studying surface properties of drug carriers and formulations.
Environmental science: Analysis of adsorbents for gas capture and filtration applications.
Energy storage: Evaluation of porous materials for battery electrodes and hydrogen storage.
Key Features
Supports both physisorption (BET) and chemisorption measurements.
High sensitivity detectors for accurate analysis of surface reactions.
Automated Temperature Programmed Desorption (TPD), Reduction (TPR), and Oxidation (TPO) capabilities.
Pulse chemisorption mode for metal dispersion and surface area calculations.
Advanced vacuum and gas handling system to ensure reliable and reproducible results.
Limitations
Sample degassing and preparation can be time-consuming and require care.
High sensitivity to contamination; samples must be clean and properly handled.
Chemisorption measurements are typically material-specific and may not be applicable to all surfaces.
Requires skilled operation and interpretation of TPD/TPR/TPO profiles.
Initial instrument setup and calibration can be complex.
